Quite possibly the finest example of the rare Mercedes-Benz W124 300 TE 4Matic. This bulletproof German workhorse was designed to be an everyday companion capable of undertaking any such task thrown at it, fortunately, however, this example has lived a much more cosseted life and as a result, presents wonderfully today.
Finished in near-perfect Brilliant Silver Metallic and set over a Grey Leather interior, a combination which some may say is synonymous with Mercs from the era, the car has a perfect blend of vintage charm and proper provenance. An extensive service history helps boost this example yet again, with 15 stamps from Mercedes Main Agents up to 56,000 miles and a further 16 stamps from renowned Mercedes Specialist John Haynes.
Last year, the car was sent to specialist vehicle sound engineers, Studio InCar, for an upheaval of its factory system and replaced with a more up to date unit with improved speaker system. It was however ensured that the new tech was in keeping with the cars period look. As well as this and despite its extensive history, the 300TE was sent down to another renowned Mercedes specialist, Edward Hall, for a full overhaul. Anything that needed attending to both imminently and prospectively was sorted, culminating in works completed to the tune of £8,500.
On top of the extensive service work, this very special 300 TE also underwent a bare-metal respray last year, dealing with any spots of corrosion and making this 30-year-old German estate look factory fresh.
All in all, this really is a fabulous example of the 300 TE, a car that Mercedes only produced 12,094 examples of globally. With its superb history and a front-page feature on the Mercedes Enthusiast Magazine, we believe they don't come any better.
