Bramley are delighted to present for sale a very special example of an R129 Mercedes SL. This striking UK motorcar was originally bought and specified in 1992 by none other than His Royal Highness the Sultan of Brunei, who immediately commissioned the car to be sent to Mercedes affiliate (not yet partner) AMG. The Sultan requested the car be given the uprated 6.0L 400BHP engine, along with AMG Exhaust, Suspension and Brakes. The aesthetics were also dealt with by AMG, who gave the car an AMG Generation 1 Body-Kit, which includes bespoke Front and Rear Bumpers and Flared Side Skirts, finishing the look off with a beautiful Ducktail Spoiler and Split Rim Alloys.
It is believed that just 164 SL500s were converted by AMG and of that number only a handful were RHD. Finished in Beryl Blue with a Deep Green Hide interior, this truly is a one of a kind motorcar.
This example was brought back over to the UK in 2017, whereupon arriving it was recommissioned by Mercedes Specialist Edward Hall and has an impressive history file following, most recently in 2020 where it had £6,000 spent to ensure it was brought totally back up to speed.
